“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior, and my God!”

Psalms 42:11

Message and Prayer

Often, we allow the daily rigor, ups and downs, disappointment, and trials of life to affect us. We are affected to the point that we feel lost, empty, discouraged, filled with self-doubt and discouragement. We mope throughout each day just waiting for things to like magic turn around. However, what we need to be doing is the exact opposite! We need to do as Paul said and “think ourselves happy” Acts 26:2. What I have learned through my experiences is that the battle is in our it is Gods’ and changes the way we think about ourselves and our situation. You have to be proactive and think yourself into a faith-filled attitude and think yourself into joy, think yourself into a good mood, think yourself into a positive way of life! King David, one of the greatest leaders and warriors that ever lived and hand-chosen by God to lead God’s people said it best in Psalms 42:11 “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior, and my God! You have to affirm and declare what God started good in your life he is going to finish; what you are going through or experiencing is intended to strengthen and not defeat you! David understood this and this is why he questioned himself for allowing himself to let his circumstances disturb his peace. He had to remind himself to put his hope in the Lord and praise him and leave it to God his Savior! Whenever you find yourself dwelling on your situation and allowing it to affect your peace dig down deep and recite the following Prayer.

Father God my Savior and my refuge, I know you are bigger than my problems. I know that the plans that you have for me are for my good so I am going to live my life faithfully waiting on the favor that I know you have in store for me. What you started in my life, I know you are going to finish; You will not withhold any good thing that you intend for me. So, Father, I will live my life in joy knowing that your goodness and mercy follow me every day and in every way. What was meant for my harm Lord, I thank you that you are turning it around for me good because I trust you and have faith in your Sovereignty and Power.
